Wine of the week under $15

Everyone is looking for a WOW (wine of the week) deal. Consumer trends show that 7 toonies and one loonie is what most people consider good value for a bottle of wine.

Catering to this, every Friday morning, Evan Saviolidis will select his WOW and have it delivered to your inbox, just in time for your weekend purchase. To subscribe, please enter your email and name below.

Boutari Moschofilero 2010, Mantinia, Greece ($11.95) - 88 pointsPicture1

Moschofilero has become Greece’s aromatic gem, much the way Albarino has for Spain. Every vintage, this wine offers exceptional value. The current release, which is a steal for under 12$, flatters with aromas of peach, apricot, orange blossom, spice and honey. Dry, there is very good length and crisp apple acidity. A must discovery! 89 Muscat of Limnos 2010, Limnos ($13.35)

It is my belief that there is no better dessert wine value in the marketplace. This bottling always shows a seductive profile of marmalade, orange blossom, spice and honey. Medium to full body, the flavours stretch long over the palate. Oh, and yes, it is a 750ml bottle. Don’t miss out on this stickie. (ES)

Wine Facts

To prevent a sparkling wine from foaming out of the glass, pour an ounce, which will settle quickly. Pouring the remainder of the serving into this starter will not foam as much.
